This was the dedication poem I published on the pages of my daughter’s senior high school year book:

Back in mid eighty-three, nature smiled on me
and into my life came a child.
With curly blonde hair and a spirit so rare,
she left us enthralled and beguiled.

With a rapier wit and a smile that won’t quit,
she wins people over with ease.
That same disposition and a hefty tuition
will make college flow like a breeze.

So with these reminisces and big hugs and kisses,
go forward and set out anew.
Katie – reach for your star no matter how far
and remember I’ll always love you.
